Edson Hill is a quiet location in Stowe, yet easily accessible to everywhere. Local restaurants within walking distance include The Round Hearth, Salute, Trattoria La Fiesta and the Fritz Bar and Restaurant at the StoweHof. Edson Hill Manor (our favorite bar and restaurant in Stowe!) and the restaurants at the TopNotch resort are just a two minute drive. A five minute walk from the front door takes you to Weissner Woods, where you can find walking and x-country ski trails for year-round outdoor activities, or access to the Recreational Path for a walk or ride alongside the river. For those who prefer a more relaxing stay, the wonderful Spa at TopNotch is just a few minutes away.

Stowe Dining

Edson Hill is a great place to drink and dine, in a beautiful setting, and is a short drive. They offer both casual and formal dining, and a bar. The food is farm to table, with a seasonally focussed menu and great cocktails.

The Stowe Bee owners are our neighbors on Edson Hill! They offer a great range of tasty pastries, soups and sandwiches for eat-in or takeout. They also offer preprepared meals, with a limited "same day" offering, and a wider selection available for order 24/48 hours in advance - so take a look and book before arrival.

Located within the Stowe Village Inn at the town end of Mountain Road, Grants has a good selection of food and cocktails. Portions are generous and the food is excellent.

This is one of our favourite places to eat in Stowe. Located right in the heart of the village, Cork offers a small menu with a seasonally focussed selection of small plates, and a few main plates, accompanied by a great wine selection. They also offer a smaller selection of local beers.

It’s the closest breakfast and lunch venue to the house, just a 5 minute stroll on the corner with the Mountain Road.

Great breakfast burritos and sandwiches. They also offer preprepared meals to take out and reheat at home.

Salute offers a wonderful selection of authentic Italian dishes, such as wood fired pizzas and freshly made pasta. The dishes are HUGE, so go hungry! They offer eat-in and carry-out.
Skiing

If you’re in Stowe to ski, this is the place you’ll be heading to!
Weekends can be busy - so make sure you plan your day well to avoid sitting in traffic, or arriving to a full car park. In particular, Presidents Week and February vacation week can be very busy. An alternative to taking your own car is to take the Mountain Road shuttle from the Round Hearth.
Our favourite place to eat is the Cliff House at the top of the Gondola. It’s a good idea to arrive early, as they don’t accept reservations. Food at the Spruce Base Camp is ok, but not as good as the Cliff House for about the same price. The Octagon at the top of theQuad is great for breakfast sandwiches, or to warm up when its too cold! An alternative is the HourGlass within the hotel, which has good food, and again similarly priced.
If you're like to give night skiiing a go, then head to Bolton Valley or Cochran's.
Other resorts within a 30-40 minute drive are Mad River Glen, Smuggler's Notch and SugarBush.
Local Convenience Stores

Edelweiss is located a few minutes drive down the Mountain Road from the Chalet. They offer a range of beers, wines, food and snack items, as well as in- house prepared food - including, salads, meats, sandwiches etc. It’s a great place to grab breakfast before heading up to the mountain, with a range of tasty breakfast burritos. The prices are very reasonable, and the quality and portion sizes are great.

Shaw's offers a full range of groceries.

If you're looking for a good range of high quality, organic food, then Commodities is the place to go. Groceries available include fresh fruit and vegetables, small selection of locally farmed meats, fresh locally made bread, cheeses and drinks, plus a great selection of shelf produce, including some locally made ready meals.

A local favorite for fresh meat and fish. Ed always offers a great selection of New England fresh food, including pre-marinaded and prepared meats - BBQ ready!
